Wild Flowers of Greece
The creation of a database for the Greek flora was a long-held dream for Vangelis Papiomytoglou who implemented it together with a team of people who share a common denominator: the love and passion for Greek Nature.

The database’s rich content comprises primarily photographic material showcasing both plant species and their habitats, meticulously gathered through countless expeditions. The basis for its development was the personal photographic collections of Yiannis Kofinas and Vangelis Papiomytoglou.

The database welcomes contributions from anyone eager to participate in its ongoing development!
Over the past decade, hundreds of nature enthusiasts and botanists have generously contributed their photo-graphic expertise to further enrich the database. In addition to taxonomic data, the database provides essential distribution information for each species, with slight “censorship” for rare and restricted species to ensure their protection. To date, 4,505 species have been documented, out of approximately 6,000 that comprise the total number of species in the Greek flora. The database caters to those captivated by the abundance and richness of Greek flora, seeking to delve deeper into its wonders. The database welcomes contributions from anyone eager to participate in its ongoing development!
