The winged, divine horse, son of Poseidon sprang from the blood issuing from the neck of Medusa as Perseus was beheading her. His name means exactly this: of the spring / pege in Greek. He lived in Mount Olympus, in the service of Zeus.
This art oblject is inspired by the iconography of Pegasus on an Attic red-figure lekythos of the 5th c. BC.
